Waxing Moon Day 34 Thornwood Open Space Preserve All were here accept Alice who was home sick with her brother. The weather was freezing in the morning and Jackie Frost left his frosty, glistening and crystalin coat all over for us to explore. The weather of the children today was like none I have yet to be present for: WILD, RUNNING, and then RUNNING and then MOVING. The entire group! As soon as we got to our destination they got out of the bus,and began to play games chasing each other and running all around. After snack we got on the trail and they just RANNNNNN. Truly, they all just wanted to run and run and run and run. I brought them back to this place in...
Read MoreWaxing Moon Lake Lagunitas Leo did not make it today and Lenny almost did not as well. Lenny had just gotten back from a big week with his grandparents and was a bit tired. However, he changed his mind and, after picking up the rest of the children we circled back, picked him up and away we went. The mood was not like our usual day. All but Sidona were in a bit distant or quiet or in a somewhat non connected mode. Sidona however was in a very joyful and playful mode! We stuck with our plans to make a fire, and cook hot dogs. Bodhi had brought all the condiments he wanted and Sidona brought some catchup. We brought out a lot of the fire wood from the bus...
Read MoreWaning Crescent Moon Lake Lagunitas What another wonder filled day! The weather, though rain so needed, was still in it’s own glory of being. Just who it is in the very moment. We were blessed with this beauty and were able to be under the trees with out a winter chill. We went back here this week because last week right as we were leaving they found an area that they really liked and did not want to leave so, I promised them we could come back and explore. And, we did. Straight away they went to the log over the creek that they wanted to test their balancing skills, one by one, and crossed over it via shimmying( don’t really know how to spell...
Read MoreWaning Moon- two days before New Moon Samuel P. Taylor The day was gray with sweet winds blowing early on as we watched the leaves fall like rain on a gentle glide down to Earth. The children’s weather began very cloudy and disjointed. Benny started with being very upset about thinking that he did not have something that he wanted. Anna went to look for it with no success and suggested it might be in his backpack. As I buckled the other children up I offered that he go through his entire backpack to see if it was there. Oh blessings for sweet gifts, He found it! Tears retreated like dark clouds being sent away with strong warm sunlit rays. I go back...
Read MoreWaxing Moon Samuel P. Taylor The children came with great vim and vigor, most particularly Leo and Benny. All day they were like young goats, butting heads, wrestling and filled with wild, laughing and sometimes teasing energy. Simone and Sidona however were simply showing energy of curiosity and exploration. When they first arrived Benny needed a sock and Sidona was instantly finding the mushrooms. We explored the mushrooms, their gills, color and smells and then went to take care of the needed sock and some sweatshirts for the day that was colder in the woods then I had anticipated. It took a bit of time but the socks were finally put on, sweatshirts...
Read MoreNew Moon Deer Park What a beautiful sunshinny fall day. The children came with such enthusiasm, adventure and explorative readiness. Right away Sidona found a ball ( one of the tennis balls that dogs play with) and really liked it. She handed it to me and I showed her what I thought it was used for. It flew right to the top of a small culvert and then came inquisitiveness about this hollow tub, the land that was dug up in front of it and what if the ball went all the way thru. The boys finally got it to through and that was thrilling to see and discover. We then found our way over a bridge and to a spot where our songs were sung, a fun story with a turtle...
